Tip of the Week #31

I wanted to share an interesting pattern that has been emerging

from the interview series we kicked off last month called, 'Secrets

of Success'. Each month for the next twelve months we are

highlighting one dance studio owner about the ups and downs of

starting, running, and growing a dance studio. It has been both fun

and insightful as I know their advice and experiences make a difference.

The question I've received the most interesting and surprising

responses to is:

What book has had the biggest impact on you?

The reasons the answers have surprised me is because I had expected

to hear about books on dancing, on teaching, and on artistry.

However that's not the pattern emerging instead I've heard:

"Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill

"Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki

"The E-Myth" by Michael Gerber

"On Writing Well" by William Zinsser

This week's tip: You can make a direct positive impact on your

business by implementing pieces of advice from classic and timeless books.

Often times when the holidays begin people feel like the 'year is

over'. Not so! Take action on one area of your business that you

feel stuck or frustrated by. There are 67 days left in 2009.

Plenty of time to get inspired, take action, ask for help, or make

a change you've been wanting to in an area of your business.

As Napoleon Hill said, "A goal is a dream with a deadline".

Taking time to work ON your business not just IN your business

is a great way to keep your passion for dance alive.

And since I love to share, the book that I'm re-reading and love is

"The War of Art" by Stephen Pressfield.

A friend of mine shared this video with me; I thought you'd enjoy 3

minutes of inspiration.

"Why do people succeed? Is it because they're smart? Or are they

just lucky?" Listen to Richard St. John's 8 secrets of success.

This presentation comes from his 7 years of research and over 500

interviews with successful people.
