Tip of the Week #32

It's amazing how fast the time goes by this time of year, one of my favorite dance friends on Twitter says she measures this time of year by ballets and performances. Busy time for all of us!

Some really exciting things are happening and I wanted to let you know about them, first if you get the print version of Dance Teacher Magazine, we were featured in the current November issue in 'Ask The Experts Q & A' about Facebook and social media and setting up a policy with teachers.

Check out the November Dance Teacher Magazine or visit our Facebook Page; ask any questions you may have. Our members have access to a video tutorial on how to set up a Fan Page for their dance studio as well. We are here to help!

Other big news this week, we launched our new look at DanceStudioOwner.com

As a thank you for being here and to celebrate our new design you are all welcome to enjoy a complimentary download of Jingle Bells - A Dance Holiday Coloring Page Here -- > http://www.dancestudioowner.com/jinglebells

Do you run your business on the go?

I do so much of the business with my mobile phone these days. If it wasn't for my email access, weather info, voice mail, flight updates, social networking, plus the fun games my kids like to play I'm not sure I'd be able to accomplish what I do.

That said I was using the 411, directory assistance feature WAY too much and was getting expensive charges on my cell phone bills.

This week's tip: Google's SMS is a useful and helpful tool if you're on the go and need information fast.

A friend told me about Google's SMS, which is awesome; I love it and wanted to share it for this week's tip. It's a f.ree service from Google, you'd be using your text messages from your cell carrier plan. So it may be most helpful if you have some sort of unlimited text plan or lower priced texting option.

Simply text message your search query to GOOGLE ("466453" on most devices) and they text message back your results. It's been really handy for me and I wanted to share it with you if you didn't already know about it. Mostly I use it for getting phone numbers. You can try their interactive demo here. I had fun typing in a search for dance studios in various towns.

Recital Themes Done for You: Suggested Music, Artists, Style and Ages Too

Enjoy access to complete recital themes. Why are these helpful and different than just a list of songs? These documents list the theme for real recitals that we produced. You can see the song name, artist, and most importantly the style of dance and age group we set the numbers to. Use these in any way that you like, draw some inspiration, modify, or duplicate the whole show.
