Our Story

By: Suzanne Blake Gerety

I've known the ups and downs of dance studio ownership my entire life.

When I reflect on the years of late nights of my mom, Kathy Blake, teaching dance classes, the times she bounced back when the economy turned, scrambling when teachers left, and when it calling it quits seemed like the only option -- she never has.

For nearly forty years she has found positive and effective ways to overcome obstacles and challenges while expanding the vibrant dance community in our local area as well as nationally.

In 2006, at the time my first child was two and I was expecting my second, I realized that if I were to lose my mom suddenly the wealth of knowledge and information on how she maintained consistent growth in the face of changing trends, personal losses, studio splits, and financial hardships would be lost.

This is how the idea for DanceStudioOwner.com began.

We created this site as a resource for new and experienced studio owners all over the world so that you can access the latest information to help save time, become more profitable, and grow your business both financially and artistically. The quickest route to long-lasting success as a dance studio owner isn't about figuring it out yourself. This unique learning environment is a place where each member can ask for advice and feedback and get it from other studio owners experiencing tangible success in their own businesses and who are willing to share how they're doing it.

Who we are.

We are real people who face the challenges of owning a business. Each day we are actively running our own studio and we can relate to what it takes to manage the million details required to operate yours.

We didn't start out with fame or fortune. Just a dream and a vision. Our success has come from loving what we do, learning from our mistakes, and expanding our business and artistic goals each year. Over the years we've had the privilege of working with hundreds of dance studio owners both virtually and in person at live industry events.

We've never danced on Broadway or been a Rockette -- but we love dance, and we love owning our own studio.

As a member of our site you'll get to know us personally. We are real, down to earth, people who deal with ups and downs and worries, yet with all of the non-glamorous side of things -- we still hold on to our dreams.

We're here to support you because we know it's never worth giving up on your dream.

We'll be your cheerleaders and your greatest resource.

Welcome to DanceStudioOwner.com
