Our Story
By: Suzanne Blake Gerety

As a child, I always looked forward to my dance recital with great anticipation and excitement...

I can remember watching my mom, Kathy Blake, spend busy days and long nights at home and at her studio sewing fringe and sequins on leotards. I would help her glue feathers on headpieces and cut ribbons for tap shoes. While I always enjoyed the dancing - the part I enjoyed the most was everything that happened behind the scenes.

Fast forward about twenty five years or so and now I am a mom and business owner. I know firsthand what it takes to wear the many hats that being self-employed requires.

At the time my first child was born, my mom asked me if I would keep running her dance studio if anything were to happen to her. Of course! I said. After everything she had worked for I would love to continue her legacy. Ed Gerety, my husband, a business owner and successful entrepreneur suggested we share our knowledge and passion with other dance studio owners.

This is how DanceStudioOwner.com began.

When I reflect on the years of late nights my mom taught dance classes, the times she bounced back when the economy turned, when teachers left, and when it seemed like calling it quits would have been the only option - she never has. For thirty-five years I have seen her keep the passion for dance alive for students, families, faculty and staff.

Who we are.

We are real people who face the challenges of owning a business. We didn't start out with fame or fortune. Just a dream and a vision. Our success has come from loving what we do, learning from our mistakes, and growing each year.

We've never danced on Broadway or been a Rockette-- but we love dance and we love owning our own business.

As a member of our site you'll get to know us personally. We are real, down to earth, people who deal with ups and downs and worries, yet with all of the non-glamorous side of things - we still hold on to our dreams.

We're here to support you because we know it's never worth giving up on your dream.

We'll be your cheerleaders and your greatest resource.

Welcome to DanceStudioOwner.com
