3 Ways To Boost Your Social Media Marketing Productivity

An hour of planning can save you 10 hours of doing." - Dale Carnegie

Maintaining your productivity while juggling the tasks of creating, distributing and promoting your studio across multiple social media channels is a tough. Fortunately there are tools and tricks to make the process easier.

Whether you're striving to manage your own time or delegate to your team, these best practice tips will get you organized and working efficiently.

Have A Strategy

Bottom line... You need a strategy for your social media. Outlining objectives provides you with the direction and framework. Start by defining how your studio will use social media and establishing the supporting platforms and tools to achieve this. You'll want to outline the goals and measurable objectives for using social media, and the target outcomes you want to achieve.

Failure to maintain consistency with posting is one of the main reasons social media accounts stop growing and communication fails. Creating a strategy helps you to plan out posts in advance and is the first step to getting them scheduled.

Without a strategy, you'll also miss key opportunities to see results from your social media marketing efforts because don't have a strategy in place to track and measure your progress.

Set SMART Goals

Along with your strategy, you'll want to set goals. One way to do that is to set SMART goals. SMART goals are:

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Achievable
  • Realistic
  • Timely

By setting SMART goals, you'll be able to focus your efforts and drastically improve the chances of success. By avoiding vague goals, you'll set yourself up for optimal results.

For example, rather than saying you'll spend an hour on social media each day, turn it into a SMART goal.

"Every day this week, I will work on creating and scheduling this month's social media from 8:30 – 9:30am without interruption."

This revised goal incorporates the SMART goal criteria — it's very specific, timely, and realistic. This type of goal is very attainable.

Plan & Organize

Now that you have your strategy and set your goals, it's time to organize and implement.

Use a simple spreadsheet in Google Sheets or Excel to sketch out your editorial calendar or the cadence of your posts. You can also use tools like Trello or Airtable to get you organized. Grab your favorite project management tool and use it! No matter what platform you use, getting your editorial calendar outlined will give you the structure you need to succeed.
